Brian is originally from upstate New York, and he graduated from Oberlin College in Ohio.  He moved to San Francisco in 1992.  After working for the California Academy of Sciences, the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, and an accounting software consulting firm, he established his consulting practice in 2001.

In addition to consulting, Brian has taught workshops in financial management and budgeting for CompassPoint Nonprofit Services and OneJustice.  He has served as Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for several organizations.
